FOVL Board of Directors are appointed for a calendar year. Directors meet the second Tuesday of each month, September through May, to consider Library & Community Funding requests & decisions. FOVL Members are encouraged to participate in discussions.
FOVL Bookroom Volunteers
Only FOVL Members can become Bookroom Volunteers who may work one or two, 3-Hour shifts per month. After a training session, you Cashier & Assist Customers within the Bookrooms. As time permits, you may shelve, straighten & alphabetize books by Author.
Dream Team Members are appointed from our more experienced Volunteers to make decisions re: Book Donations. Non-Fiction Books are scanned for possible online sale. Fiction Books are sorted & shelved by copyright dates. Outdated Books are boxed & transported to storage for future Overstock Sales.
Wildwood Elementary School (WWES)
Sort & shelve books within the Media Center. Student contact is limited, but all Volunteers must be approved by Sumter County Schools: http://www.sumter.k12.fl.us/ ; click on the bottom left side "Volunteer Opportunities". Background check & approval takes 2 to 3 weeks but lasts 3 Years.
