Volunteer Opportunities

FOVL Board of Directors are appointed for a calendar year. Directors meet the second Tuesday of each month, September through May, to consider Library & Community Funding requests & decisions. FOVL Members are encouraged to participate in discussions.
FOVL Bookroom Volunteers:
Only FOVL Members can become Bookroom Volunteers who may work one or two, 3-hour shifts per month. After a training session, you work in a Book Room where you assist customers, answer questions, accept donations of used books, and sell books/magazines/DVD's/CD's within the Bookrooms. As time permits, you may shelve, straighten & alphabetize books by Author.
Dream Team Members are appointed from our more experienced Volunteers to make decisions re: Book Donations. Non-Fiction Books are scanned for possible online sale. Fiction Books are sorted & shelved by copyright dates. Outdated Books are boxed & transported to storage for future Overstock Sales.
Other Volunteer Opportunities:
Volunteers can pick-up book donations from the public either at people's homes or at the Book Rooms themselves as many customers bring their donations directly to us. Volunteers deliver donations to our storage and inventory area, help inventory donations, load the truck to bring items to our regular public sales, etc. Volunteers can staff tables at various public events and talk to the public about what we do.
